A point cloud is a large collection of points acquired by 3D laser scanners or other technologies that create 3D renderings of existing spaces.
The point cloud is saved into .xyz files. Once processed, it can be worked on using a 3D and 2D modelling software, such as Revit and AutoCAD, allowing the Project to develop on an accurate and virtual basis, making it possible to apply the BIM Methodology right during the project’s conceptual phase.
Among its most common uses, we have surveys to refurbish a space. It can also be used to record a historical heritage and even to map out facilities in residential and commercial buildings in order to avoid wasting time doing as-built. That is, it has applications that can be used at different stages of a Project, be it a new work or a renovation work.
At Virtual Twin, before the creation and supply of the point cloud, we generate a virtual tour of your heritage, environment or enterprise. This enables, in a simple and intuitive way, to visit and explore a space through visualization, complemented by the possibility of being able to measure over 3D image made available by our service. Later, should you wish, we can work this point cloud and transform it into a REVIT (r) file.
